WHERE IS YOUR PLACENTA BURIED?

There is a pain in your womb

There are bruises that flower

Deep magenta

Blooming where your bellybutton

Meets the outside air

You need to return to the place

Where your umbilical cord has been disappeared.

Boy, you have got to cry

I cannot cry for something I cannot see.

There is a pain in your womb

There are bruises that flower

Deep magenta

Dried blood oxidizing where the wound

Meets the outside air

I know that you think

That if you start grieving,

You will never be able to stop

This is not true

I have stopped many times.

There is a pain in your womb

There are bruises that flower

Deep magenta

Leaving marks where your sharp tongue

Meets the outside air

This is the moment

When the world is made flesh

I can only weep for that which is remembered.

I can only stop for that which is

forgiven.
